The Donald E. Reed Instructional Resources Center


The Donald E. Reed Instructional Resources Center (IRC), located on the ground floor of Nease Library, includes a collection of non-print materials and equipment for listening and viewing. Library users may obtain CD's, audiocassettes, video tapes and other non-print materials by asking at the IRC desk. The center also includes a production area, equipment, supplies, and services to support education faculty and students in classroom projects, curriculum assignments and student teaching. The curriculum library, including print material and manipulatives, and a comprehensive book collection for children and adolescents are also found on the ground floor.

Hours

The Instructional Resources Center maintains the same hours of operation as the Nease Library. Hours change for holidays and summer vacations.

Scheduling Media Equipment

The Instructional Resources Center provides audio-visual support for College classroom instruction and for College sponsored activities. Faculty and staff members may reserve circulating equipment with 24 hour advance notice. Reservations should be made with the Coordinator of Instructional Resources, ext. 3851 or through the Instructional Resources Desk, ext. 3841.

If students have need of equipment for class presentations, the faculty member should make arrangements prior to the need. Students must have either faculty approval or permission of the Coordinator of Instructional Resources to borrow equipment.

Equipment is not available to support student teaching activities.

Ordering of Audio-Visual Materials and Equipment

Audio-visual materials for use in support of College academic classes and college sponsored activities must be ordered by the department. Equipment purchase requests are made on an annual basis through GIRT, the Group for Instructional Resources and Technology. All materials and equipment must be approved for campus use.
